Description: This majestic bowie is a collaborative effort between Journeyman Bladesmiths Michael Rader and John Davis. The blade was forged to shape by John Davis, then heat treated and finished by Michael. The guard and cap nut are forged to shape using Lyle Brunckhorst's Damascus. Throughout the knife, the Damascus was forged from 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels.
Michael brings a level of woodworking to knives that is rarely found elsewhere. Brazilian ipe is highlighted by sections of curly maple. The sides have been fluted length-wise. Kydex spacers allow the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. Showing tremendous skill in his fit and finish, the hand is disassemblable and is internally bedded with Acraglass (gunstock bedding resin). 18 coats of teak oil result in a dramatic finish.
