Description: This sole authorship Aikuchi/tanto shows Scott's sense of design and fit and finish at its best. The hamon shows a clear differential heat treat created by clay tempering. The result is an extraordinary edge holding ability and a softer, more resilient spine. Fittings throughout -- from menuki (grip ornaments, cast by Scott) to habaki (blade collar, which protects the blade while in the sheath) and tsuba (sword guard) are all formed from Merlin's Gold, an alloy consisting of copper and zinc. It simulates a medium gold in color and develops a dramatic patina which evokes an antique feeling. Menuki, showing Japanese poll arms are set on each side of the handle. Musashi can be fully disassembled using a traditional pin.
