Description: Higgins and Sterling create masterworks that evoke an earlier era. This dagger is in the style of Northwest Native American carvings, and tells the legend of the Maiden of Deception Pass (Whidbey Island). The maiden's face is carved to exquisite detail in full on the front among swirling bull kelp, with just her eye visible on the obverse. The eye is formed from fossil mammoth ivory and inlaid with ebony for a realistic appearance. The huge dacite obsidian blade is percussion knapped with beautifully matched flake scars. Both makers have signed the maple guard.
