Description: Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. In 1978, they settled in Golden, Colorado and initially, the company focused on selling their first product: the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker™ which was primarily sold at fairs and trade shows around the country. Since then, Spyderco has steadily grown to become one of the leaders in the cutlery industry. In addition to a worldwide distribution network and manufacturing resources in the U.S., Japan, Taiwan, Italy, and China, their innovations have earned them an impressive portfolio of patents, trademarks, and industry awards.
Spyderco “Salt” knives are meant to be used in or around the water. All components from the blade down to the screws utilize materials that are entirely unbothered by corrosion. In its basic form, the Para 3 distills all the best-in-class features and benefits of the iconic Para Military 2 into a smaller, more pocket-friendly format. G-10 scales with nestled steel liners, jimping on both the spine and choil, a 4-position pocket clip, and Spyderco’s proprietary Compression Lock and make this knife safe and easy to use. The black G-10 scales have Spyderco’s signature Caribbean Bi-Directional Texture pattern for a non-slip grip.
The 2.9 inch blade is crafted from CPM-MagnaCut with a black DLC finish. CPM-MagnaCut is a premium stainless steel created by Crucible with the help of professional metallurgist Dr. Larrin Thomas. Magnacut combines the high toughness of CPM-4V with the corrosion resistance of CPM-20CV. This creates a perfect blade steel for knives that need high toughness and great edge retention while still being easy to maintain. The black DLC coating minimizes light reflection for duty-bound users. The drop point blade is a perfect general-purpose shape.
Made in Golden, Colorado, USA.
