Description: Zero Tolerance is a brand of Kai USA Ltd. The ZT first made its appearance in 2006 when they saw a place in the market for a Made-in-USA line of hard-use knives that would meet the needs of professionals in the military and law enforcement as well as other first responders, such as firefighters and emergency medical personnel. Quickly, there were many more people who would want a ZT. The team had a mission: show this broader crowd that if you invest in a premium knife, it’s a gamechanger when it comes to form and function.
The ZT 0004 is a medium sized fixed blade built to excel in almost any situation. From hunting trips to day hikes and even every day carry on the belt, this knife will perform for a lifetime. The 3D machined Micarta handle is comfortable in a variety of grip positions and will take on patina through use. Two Allen head bolts hold the scales onto the skeletonized full tang, making disassembly and cleaning simple. This also allows the user to remove the scales and wrap the tang in paracord or other materials. Jimping along the spine gives secure purchase. A large choil and smaller dimple in the spine of the blade allow for a more forward grip to utilize the tip and belly of the blade. The knife also comes with a high-quality Kansas-made, saddle tan leather sheath to securely hold and transport the knife. The sheath has an adjustable backing plate to allow you to switch carry styles from vertical to horizontal. A retention strap and button hold the knife securely in the sheath.
The blade is CPM-CruWear (63-64 Hrc) with a brown Cerakote. CPM-CruWear is an American made steel by Crucible Industries and is well known for its amazing combination of toughness and wear resistance, making this the perfect choice on knives meant for hard use. The powder metallurgy process refines the grain structure and gives the blade maximum resistance to chipping while also holding a razor-sharp edge that is simple to resharpen. A moderate amount of chromium gives the blade some stain resistance, but CruWear can develop a patina over time if moisture or corrosive elements are left on the blade. Simply wiping the blade and keeping it dry can avoid patina if it is not desired, along with using camellia oil or another high-quality oil. A swedge along the top of the blade gives an excellent sense of balance and also gives a reinforced tip section.
Zero Tolerance knives carry a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer. They also extend free lifetime sharpening, as well as replacement parts. Some replacement parts are free, while more premium parts charge a small fee. More information can be found on ZT’s website.
