Description: Andrew Smith began making knives in 2008 when he was just 15 years old. He started forging knives out of railroad spikes and tomahawks out of bar stock and ball peen hammers. For years this was all that he made. Today he makes all kinds of knives, but still has a deep love for making hawks.
The head of this hawk is hand forged 4140 alloy tool steel and features a forge finish. The edge measures approximately 2.8 inches. The head is approximately 5-1/2 inches from the cutting edge to the back of the hammer. Andrew's touchmark is engraved into the left side of the axe.
The haft is hand carved bloodwood finished with boiled linseed oil. It is tapered to provide excellent balance for throwing and chopping. The bottom of the haft is jigged for additional grip.
A hand stitched leather sheath is included to protect the axe during storage.
Excellent work throughout!
