Description: Tim Bernard (b. 1994) is from the French Alps (Hautes-Alpes). He studied knifemaking in Thiers, where he worked for several French factories. Renowned knifemaker Manu Laplace would become his mentor and trained him for two years, before Bernard started his own business in 2016. Bernard received the CAP Coutellerie de Thiers. He began forging in 2021. His favorite part of the job is finding rare and unusual materials, combining them to tell a story with his knives. It is rare to see his work in the United States and we are excited to be able to offer it at BladeGallery. This beautiful pendant is a collaboration between Tim Bernard and his partner Marion Auger.
This small teardrop pendant is also a functioning linerlock folder. The blade is acid washed 14C28N stainless steel made by Sandvik in Sweden. 14C28N is tough, chip, resistant, highly corrosive resistant, and maintains good edge retention.
Handle scales are Muonionalusta meteorite. The Muonionalusta is a historic iron meteorite, classified as a fine octahedrite, discovered in northern Sweden in 1906 and known for its beautiful Widmanstätten pattern – a distinctive, intricate crystalline texture formed by extremely slow cooling over millions of years. It is one of Earth's oldest known meteorites, believed to be the iron core of a planetary body, and was the first iron meteorite found to contain stishovite, a rare form of quartz. The scales are set on polished stainless steel liners. The stainless steel backbar is hand fileworked.
Includes a silver chain to be worn around the neck.
Excellent work throughout!
