Description: Award winning Journeyman Smith Ben Seward began making knives back in 2009. He attended the W.F. Moran School of Bladesmithing in Old Washington Arkansas under the tutelage of Mastersmiths JR Cook and Mike Williams. He enjoys forging steel, making pattern welded damascus, and stainless san mai. Whether an investment grade art piece or a field grade EDC defense knife or hunting knife, Ben strives to make each blade a high performance cutting tool.
This San Mai Kwaiken was forged to shape from Ben's own three layer san mai, combing a 1095 carbon steel core with 410 stainless steel sides. This gives the performance of a high carbon blade with easier maintenance. The flats are forge finished. The grinds reveal the darkened core steel. The blade moves into an armor-piercing tip.
The tang is wrapped with black nylon cord. This is a technique called Tsuka-Ito. The wrapping culminates in a turks head knot, locking your hand behind the blade.
This knife is accompanied by a felt-lined Kydex sheath with titanium J Clip attachment for easy carry.
Exceptional work throughout!
