Description: Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. In 1978, they settled in Golden, Colorado, and initially, the company focused on selling their first product: the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker™ which was primarily sold at fairs and trade shows around the country. Since then, Spyderco has steadily grown to become one of the leaders in the cutlery industry. In addition to a worldwide distribution network and manufacturing resources in the U.S., Japan, Taiwan, Italy, and China, their innovations have earned them an impressive portfolio of patents, trademarks, and industry awards.
The Spyderco Manix 2 (C101MPCW2) is a full-sized folding knife that uses Spyderco's Ball Bearing lock system. This allows the Manix to be fully ambidextrous with no modifications needed! The pocket clip can be moved for either left or right side, tip-up carry. Natural Micarta scales sit on top of full steel liners, giving the knife strength and a pleasing weight in the hand. Micarta can patina with use, darkening its color over time as the knife is handled and used. Jimping along the spine and in the recessed choil make the knife comfortable to hold in a variety of positions. An oversized lanyard tube at the back of the knife allows for a multitude of attachment options.
The satin finished blade is made from premium CPM-CruWear semi-stainless steel. CPM-CruWear is an American made steel by Crucible Industries and is well known for its amazing combination of toughness and wear resistance, making this the perfect choice on knives meant for hard use. The powder metallurgy process refines the grain structure and gives the blade maximum resistance to chipping while also holding a razor sharp edge that is simple to resharpen. A moderate amount of chromium gives the blade some stain resistance, but CruWear can develop a patina over time if moisture or corrosive elements are left on the blade. Simply wiping the blade and keeping it dry can avoid patina if it is not desired, along with using camellia oil or another high quality oil. The blade has a full flat grind that gives a remarkably sharp and efficient cutting edge.
Made in Golden, Colorado, USA.
