Description: Aaron Wilburn became a journeyman smith in June of 2009 and a master smith in 2013. He creates serious knives for some of the most avid collectors in the industry and makes fantastic slipjoints that have excellent action and superb fit and finish. This Texas Toothpick is an excellent example of his clean and consistent work.
The blade is hand ground from Wilburn's own damascus, combining 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels for excellent edge holding. Many thermal cycles and normalizing steps ensure consistent grain structure and exceptional durability. A cryogenic treatment between tempers further enhances the edge holding ability. The blade can be easily opened using the nail nick on the left side of the blade. A hollow grind provides an easy to maintain edge. The blade has excellent action with a firm half-stop.
The handle is cream toned ancient mammoth ivory brought to a beautiful polish. Front and rear polished stainless steel bolsters help protect the handle scales if the knife is dropped. The liners are hand fileworked and surround a matching damascus backbar. The contoured handle feels great in your hand.
Excellent work throughout!
