Description: Helle is a family company of tradition and craft located a long way from the fast lanes of big cities. Making high quality knives has been the source of livelihood and lifestyle among the Helle family and its artisans for more than three generations (since 1932!). The generations-old tradition has been passed on through the hands of the people in the small, picturesque village of Holmedal, Vestland Co., Norway. Helle knives are made to join you as you adventure and explore this amazing world.
The Viking Bushcrafter is the revision of a Helle classic that was originally produced as a part of a fund-raiser for an around-the-world expedition in a Viking longship. The shape is inspired by the traditional Scandinavian Puukko.
The drop point blade is H3LC (Helle Triple Laminate Carbon). A central core of 100cr6 (52100) carbon steel is surrounded by tough S235 steel sides. This greatly improves durability of the blade. The core steel is hardened to 58-59 Hrc to ensure a nice combination of edge holding and toughness. Despite its compact size, the thicker spine makes this knife quite durable. The 90 degree spine works perfectly with a ferro rod when lighting fires. The blade features a Scandi grind which is a favorite of bushcrafters and outdoorsmen worldwide.
The handle is masur birch, hand contoured to provide a comfortable grip. The tang reaches all the way through the handle and is pinned old style with a diamond shaped washer.
To keep the knife close at hand, a traditional Nordic style leather sheath is included.
Handcrafted using traditional methods in Holmedal, Norway.
