Description: This beautiful fighter was created by Bob Crowder of Thompson Falls, Montana. Bob sold his first knife back in 1985 and served as President of the Montana Knifemakers Association for many years. This knife has been in a knifemaker’s private collection. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. By all appearances, Crowder could have made it yesterday.
The blade is hand ground ATS-34 stainless steel and features a mirror polish. ATS-34 provides superior rust resistance while retaining excellent edge retention. The distal tapered spine and tang provide excellent balance in hand. A long swedge travels approximately 2/3 up the blade.
Presentation grade Arizona desert ironwood (Olneya tesota) handle scales are perfectly dovetailed to satin finished stainless steel bolsters. Ironwood is a rare wood that is only found in the valleys of the Sonoran Desert below 2,500 foot elevation. It is among the most desirable of exotic woods used for knives. This is a particularly dramatic piece of ironwood. A finger choil provides a perfect rest for precise cutting tasks while the guard and handle provide an array of various comfortable grip options.
To keep the knife close at hand, Bob included a pouch style leather custom sheath.
Excellent work throughout.
