Description: This elegant gent's front flipper was made by South African knifemaker Barry Barnardt. Barry is a part time knifemaker. He puts his attention toward quality and continuous improvement rather than quantity. Barnardt is a member of the Cape Knifemakers’ Guild as well as the Knifemakers’ Guild of Southern Africa.
The blade is hand ground, high performing RWL-34 stainless steel. RWL-34 is a premium powder metallurgy cutlery steel manufactured by Damasteel in Söderfors, Sweden. Because it is manufactured from rapidly solidified powders, the microstructure of the steel is much more uniform. This gives the steel much higher strength and resistance to cracking. Barnardt cryogenically treated the steel in liquid nitrogen for the ultimate in edge holding and strength. The spine is nicely domed for a comfortable thumb purchase. Barry's touchmark is on the left side of the blade.
Polished natural Micarta handle scales are set on bronze anodized titanium liners. The liners surround a polished RWL-34 backspacer. The lightly domed handle feels good in your hand, but is lightweight in your pocket.
The knife is accompanied by a leather belt pouch with a metal clip.
Excellent work throughout!
