Description: This frontier style dagger is an exceptional example of Raymond Richard's work. It has an elegance and timeless sense to it that wouldn't be out of place by the side of an American pioneer, bravely breaking ground in a new land. It captures the spirit of a time gone by - yet has the excellence one expects from a contemporary knifemaker.
The 4-1/2 inch dagger blade is hand forged from 5160 carbon steel. The bevels were forged in by hand and almost the entire blade was forged to shape and being merely sharpened afterwards showing Ray's exceptional skill and accuracy at the forge. The brut de forge style finish gives the blade a timeless elegance.
Brown leather handle scales are secured to the full tang using pins. The scales fill your hand nicely and provide a comfortable grip. The tang extends past the scales into a rounded blacksmith style tail. Though this dagger will be easy to keep close at hand, it could be easily fashioned into a spear as well in a survival situation.
To keep the knife close at hand, a pouch style brown leather custom sheath made by Ray is included.
Excellent work throughout!
