Description: Mastersmith Shane Taylor is best known for one-of-a-kind art knives, with an emphasis on pictorial mosaic damascus and highly engraved art knives. His unique vision is influenced by steam punk and gothic aesthetics. This damascus hunter is a prime example of Shane's consistently excellent knives. This knife was kept in a private collection since it was made in 2012. It is in brand new condition and by all appearances it could have been made yesterday!
The 4.9 inch blade is forged from Shane's own heat colored mosaic damascus, combining carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The blade is flat ground and razor sharp. The spine is hand engraved by Shane. The bottom of the ricasso is engraved '1202', designating this was the second fixed blade made by Shane in 2012.
The handle is a beautiful section of amber crown stag. Stag of this quality has become increasingly rare over the years. The guard is mild steel, meticulously hand engraved around the circumference. A fine silver spacer is set in front of the guard. The crown is inlaid with an engraved fine silver cap. Shane engraved a detailed image of a Crow warrior surrounded by an engraved frame.
This Hunter is accompanied by an antique Crow Nation sheath. The Crow tribe are Native Americans living primarily in southern Montana. Many years ago, Shane found it at a pawn shop. It was ferreted away for years until he decided it needed a knife.
Excellent work throughout!
