Description: Up and coming knifemaker, Jordan Buckley has tremendous attention to detail. Jordan, who is 19 years old (as of the spring of 2023) is a Washington native. His passion for bladesmithing is clear throughout all his knives. His work and aesthetic have tremendous refinement despite only having been making knives for 5 years. Perhaps it is no surprise that he aspires to become a mastersmith by 25!
This high performance chef's knife is a perfect choice as a primary knife in the kitchen. The blade is well suited to slicing vegetables, meats, and more. The gentle arc of the cutting edge is perfect for a rocking, chopping motion with plenty of finger clearance over a cutting board. At 7 inches, it is a comfortable size for easy control and will get almost any task done. Whether chopping, mincing, dicing, or slicing, this nimble knife is sure to become your kitchen favorite.
The blade is hand forged 1080 carbon steel and features a meticulous hand rubbed satin finish. 1080 carbon steel is tough, chip resistant, and maintains a razor sharp edge for a long time. The blade is ground beautifully thin for high performance cuts. The spine and choil are nicely rounded for comfort.
The bolster is integral to the blade. This technique has superior structural integrity and requires a particularly talented smith. The bolster is carved to encourage a comfortable pinch grip.
The handle is kingwood, sculpted and brought to a high polish. A true rosewood, kingwood is harvested from a small tree called Dalbergia Cearensis that is restricted to a small area in Brazil. Extremely rare, kingwood was famous for being used in the finest furniture in the world during the 17th century. It was often only sold to royalty. A bronze spacer separates the handle from the bolster. Because this knife is made from carbon steel, we recommend using camellia oil to avoid rust and oxidation. Like other kitchen knives, this knife should not be put in a dishwasher.
Excellent work throughout
