Description: Curtis Iovito and Mark Carey, co-founders of Spartan Blades, LLC, possess over 40 years of combined military service and experience. Since their retirement from US Army Special Forces they have been involved in the development, marketing, and program management of tactical gear and ballistic armor products. For years, Curtis has designed and made custom knives for his friends in Special Forces and for other companies. Mark and Curtis have combined their shared love of knife making, military experience and knowledge of the tactical equipment market to form Spartan Blades, LLC with a singular mission: “Manufacture finely crafted tactical and field knives.”
The Ronin Shinto gets its name from “The practice of establishing a connection between the ways of the old and the ways of the new.” This knife is a great balance of old and new design and form, making for a highly functional combat knife. Tu Lam is a retired Special Forces soldier, "Green Beret" and teammate of the Spartan Blades founders during their time in Okinawa where they worked as snipers; Tu Lam was part of an assault troop in the same company. Tu Lam has quickly become the “Go to” authority to military and law enforcement training and is the power house behind RONIN Tactics, Inc., an organization that trains many of the top tier military and law enforcement units in the world in H2H and knife techniques. Tu is also the Co-Host of The History Channel's "Forged in Fire, Knife or Death” television series.
The blade is American-made CPM-S35VN with a flat dark earth PVD ZrN coating. This fine-grained powdered metallurgical steel is tough, chip resistant and can be sharpened to a razor edge. Deep jimping provides a very comfortable thumb purchase. A large recurve gives the blade excellent cutting and chopping power. A choil allows more control for detail oriented tasks.
Black CE grade canvas Micarta scales are set on the full tang for strength and durability. Torx screws allow the scales to be removed if cleaning is needed. A paracord lanyard adds extra retention in hand.
A black lined nylon MOLLE sheath is included to keep the knife close at hand.
Made in the USA.
