Description: Swedish knifemaker Anders Hedlund lives in Samstad, on the west coast of Sweden. He was born in 1971 and made his first knife in the wood shop at school at 15 years old. In 1992, he began to make knives in his spare time, starting with factory made blades and eventually grinding his own blades. When he joined the Swedish Knifemakers’ Association, he quickly became aware of the world of handmade knives. This folder was kept in a private collection since it was made in 2011. It is in brand new condition and by all appearances, Hedlund could have made it yesterday!
The Dragon mosaic damascus blade was forged by renowned bladesmiths Mattias Styrefors and Jonny Walker Nilsson. The complex damascus shows the incredible skill this duo is known for. Because the blade is forged from carbon steels, we recommend using camellia oil to prevent rust. The blade can opened easily using the right-handed 14K gold thumbstud inlaid with a 3.5mm faceted sapphire.
Handle scales are ancient mammoth ivory bark, set on anodized titanium liners using gold screws. The ivory has cream and rare green tones that developed in the ivory while buried in the permafrost for thousands of years. The front and rear of the scales is hand fluted and set with 18K gold pins. Fluted front and rear bolsters are matching mosaic dragon damascus. The titanium liners are anodized blue and fileworked. The backbar is Damasteel that is hand engraved and inlaid with three faceted blue 2.5mm saphires and two faced 2mm red rubies. A 14k gold bail at the end of the handle allows for the addition of a lanyard.
Excellent work throughout!
