Description: Anders Hogstrom, who is well known for his exceptional fit and finish, created this dramatic engraved folder. It is rare to encounter folder by Hogstrom, and this one makes it clear there should be far more. This was the fourth folder that Anders made. Hogstrom currently lives in his native Sweden. Anders apprenticed under Scott Slobodian. This folder has been in a private collection and has been meticulously cared for. It is in mint condition and by all appearances, Anders could have made it yesterday.
The blade was forged to from twist pattern damascus, combining 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels. The bold damascus pattern is nicely highlighted by the clean grinds. The blade is easily opened using the hand turned damascus thumb stud, highlighted with an 18k gold pin.
Sterling silver handle scales are stippled and engraved by Barbara Slobodian. The scales feature her maker’s mark, which says “the samurai’s wife” in kanji. Scales are set in place with gold plated screws. Anodized titanium liners surround the textured sterling silver backbar.
The knife is accompanied by a leather pocket slip.
Exceptional work throughout.
