Description: This exceptional engraved folder was made by veteran knifemaker Joe Kious. Joe specialized in investment-quality interframes and was a longtime Knifemakers Guild member. He passsed away in Dec. 2014. Joe sold his first knife in 1969. Joe was an exemplary member of the Guild and freely shared his knowledge with other makers. His knives reflect a great deal of thought, crafsmanship, and artistry. He was a true master. This folder has been in a private collection and has been meticulously cared for. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday.
The perfectly centered blade is hand ground damascus forged by Mike Norris. It is easily opened using the push-button auto mechanism. The Kious touchmark is on the base of the ricasso.
The 416 stainless steel handle was meticulously engraved by Shigetoshi Takeuchi. The engraving is accented with 24k gold inlay. Each side of the handle is inlaid with presentation grade blacklip mother of pearl.
Exceptional work throughout!
