Description: Mastersmith Mike Vagnino began his journey into knifemaking back in 1995, starting with a forging class from Karl Shroen. He continued his training under the watchful eye of Mastersmith Tim Hancock. He received his journeyman smith rating in 2001 and his Mastersmith rating in 2003. He strives to build high performing, yet beautiful knives. This sole authorship linerlock is a perfect example of Mike's excellent work!
The wharncliffe blade is forged from Mike's own damascus, combining 1095 and 15n20 carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The high contrast pattern is extremely engaging and will have you staring at the layers for hours. The blade can be easily opened using the right-side thumb stud. The thumbstud is inlaid with blacklip mother of pearl for additional elegance. The blade is perfectly centered and has silky-smooth action.
Blacklip mother of pearl handle scales are secured to steel liners. Blacklip is becoming increasingly hard to come by these days. The scales are fit to matching front and rear damascus bolsters. The damascus backbar keeps this gentleman's style folder strong.
Excellent work throughout!
