Description: This exceptional back lock folder was made by Shun Fujikawa. Japanese knifemaker Fujikawa has tremendous attention to detail. This knife was in a private collection since it was made. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. By all appearances, it could have ben made yesterday.
Fujikawa started with deceivingly simple lines and worked them to perfection. The dagger-ground blade is Devin Thomas Spirograph damascus forged from stainless steels. The hollow grind nicely shows off the damascus' inherent pattern. Shun's touchmark is inlaid in 24k gold.
The handle is 416 stainless steel and was engraved by Shigetoshi Takeuchi. Floral scroll engraving interlaces with 24kt gold inlay and surrounds exhibition grade blacklip mother of pearl inlays. The 'bolster' region shows a woman engraved in bulino style. The engraving is tremendously lifelike and detailed. This is surrounded by a 24kt gold frame.
The blade is well centered and has smooth, consistent action. Exceptional work throughout.
