Description: The La Mer Swedish Hunter is the work of Swedish knifemaker Thomas Lofgren. Thomas was born in Eksjö, Sweden in 1949. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers for the Swedish Armed Forces from 1973 until he retired in 2005. He has been making knives seriously since 2000. All of his knives are unique and never to be repeated. This beautiful hunter was kept in a private collection since it was made. It is in brand new condition and by all appearances, Thomas could have made it yesterday!
The multi-bar damascus was forged by fellow Swedish maker Henrik Bjork, combining carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding. The damascus incorporates two bars of twist damascus with a firecracker damascus bar at the cutting edge. This creates a stunning, complex pattern that few can replicate. The blade was then hand ground to shape by Lofgren. A distal taper provides perfect balance in hand. Because this knife is forged from carbon steels we recommend using camellia oil for the blade and natural material handle.
"La Mer" in translates to "the sea". As the name would suggest, this handle combines some of the finest materials you can find in the ocean. A central section of swordfish bill is surrounded by front and rear bolsters made from stabilized fossil coral. Decorative abalone shell window frames can be seen on both sides of the handle. The contoured handle fills your hand nicely and provides a comfortable grip. A mosaic damascus end cap finishes the handle.
To keep the knife close at hand, a tooled traditional Swedish leather custom sheath is included. The swinger style belt loop allows the knife to move out of the way when sitting down.
Excellent work throughout!
