Description: This is an exceptional knife by Roderick Anthony Chappel, son of renowned knifemaker, Roderick “Caribou” Chappel. Master Craftsman Roderick “Caribou” Chappel, was a custom knifemaker based primarily out of Washington state. His blades are high-caliber works of art. Notorious for his ergonomic hand sculpted grips and the superior mastery in his sweeping grinds, he implemented a hollow grind with a rolled convex edge that would be resilient and sharp through many events of usage. Roderick Anthony worked closely with his father for many years before his untimely death on July 25th 2001. This knife has been in a single collection and is in new condition. By all appearances, Roderick Anthony could have made it yesterday.
The 3 inch drop point blade is mirror polished 440C stainless steel. On the left side, it is marked: "April 2, 1998 / Mt. Lake Terrace, Wa. / SS. 440C". The right side is marked “A Roderick A Chappel /Blue Fox Utility / Ser No 1”. The spine is chamfered with an elegant ridge running along the spine.
The handle is bocote wood, sculpted with finger grooves to comfortably lock your hand in. Alternating spacers made from brass, stainless steel, and red and blue fiber add a nice contrast and will help the natural wood adjust to humidity and temperature changes. The handle is finished with a polished stainless steel guard and butt cap.
Nice work throughout!
