Description: Dietmar Kressler is one of Germany's most famous knifemakers -- though unfortunately his work only rarely gets to the US. He worked personally with the legendary Bob Loveless in his shop and is often considered the European equivalent. Kressler is well known for his fully integral Loveless style designs. This Integral Chute Knife was kept in a private collection since it was made. It is in brand new condition and by all appearances, Dietmar could have made it yesterday!
This knife is integral, with all steel formed from a single billet of RWL-34 stainless steel. It is meticulously and beautifully finished! The blade and front and rear bolsters are hand satin finished. The full tang is polished. The blade features Kressler's mark on the left side. RWL-34 is a premium powder metallurgy cutlery steel manufactured by Damasteel in Sweden. Because it is made from rapidly solidified powders, the microstructure of the steel is much more uniform. This gives the steel much higher strength and resistance to cracks and chips.
Handle scales are polished mammoth ivory bark that combines very rare green tones with coffee and cream tones. The contoured scales are extremely comfortable. The distal tapered tang provides perfect balance in hand. A lanyard can be added to the rear end of the knife.
To keep the knife close at hand, a hand stitched leather sheath made by Kressler is included.
Exceptional work throughout!
