Description: Frank Edwards began his journey into knifemaking in 2009 and started forging in 2011. He joined the American Bladesmith Society in 2017 and has taken classes from some of the greats in the custom knife world including mastersmiths Bill Burke and Rick Dunkerley. In a relatively short time, Frank is creating world class folders that rival those made by his teachers.
The feather pattern damascus blade was forged from 1080 and 15n20 carbon steels. The high contrast, highly detailed pattern is captivating and will have excellent edge retention. The pattern is exceptionally controlled, showing Edwards' skill at the forge. Because this knife is forged from carbon steels, we recommend using camellia oil to oil both the blade and natural stag handle scales. The blade rotates on Teflon washers and has silky smooth-action. It is perfectly centered and can be easily deployed using 18k gold 'Dellana dots'.
Presentation grade bark mammoth ivory handle scales are perfectly fit to heat colored mild steel bolsters. Green mammoth ivory is particularly rare and desirable. This color develops across thousands of years as minerals in surrounding soil moved into the ancient ivory. The bolsters are meticulously inlaid with 24k gold accents. The backbar is hand engraved by Frank -- both inside and out. The combination of the engraving, filework, and gold accents is particularly dramatic. Hand fileworked, polished and nitre blued steel liners surround the engraved backbar. Screws throughout are heat colored and fileworked.
Excellent work throughout!
