Description: This Bird and Trout by Alan Mitchell is a truly incredible knife. Alan has been forging knives since 2013 and is an active member of the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa where he currently serves as secretary. His knives are designed for use but have a tremendous artistry about them that immediately grabs attention.
The blade features san mai: an O1 carbon steel core is surrounded by 3Cr12 stainless steel on each side. A thin layer of nickel between stops carbon migration and adds a dramatic 'pop'.
The African blackwood handle features steel wire wrap at the middle, which aids grip. The bolster and pommel are both made from carved bronze.
This is one of those knives that needs to be held to fully appreciate. It is a spectacular example of Mitchell's creative work.
