Description: Mastersmith Henry Torres had the opportunity to work under renowned bladesmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to understand Bill's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere.
This tactical compact hawk is made with edge awareness, economy of motion and mobility in mind. This makes it perfect for tight spaces. The head measures approximately 6.2 inches from the rear spike to the front face, with a cutting edge of 2-3/4 inches.
Henry used 52100 carbon steel so that this hawk can be relied upon for a keen, long lasting edge. Many knifemakers and knife users feel that 52100 is among the highest performing steels currently used in the knife industry. Torres then cold gun blued it to impart limited rust resistance.
Hand sculpted black Micarta scales are secured to the full tang. Hand textured Micarta handle scales offer an exceptional grip. A top section of desert camo paracord protects the handle when used. It provides a secure, comfortable grip. A lanyard can be added to the bottom of the handle.
A handmade Kydex sheath with belt loops keeps the axe close at hand.
Excellent work throughout!
