Description: Mastersmith Doug Noren is well known for his devotion and knowledge of knives made by the late William Scagel. More so than nearly any other maker, William Scagel's knives have captured the imagination of American knife collectors, with their unique shape and appearance. Doug's knives are true to the style with some of the best fit and finish found anywhere.
This hunting knife is very true to Scagel's design -- from the carbon steel upswept blade to the leather handle with stacked spacers. Noren chose to follow the color themes used by Scagel, combining leather and steel along with red and black fiber spacers. An ancient walrus ivory pommel and mammoth ivory spacer completes the handle. The resulting handle is both dramatic and extremely comfortable. The front of the bronze guard is beveled and fits perfectly to the 5160 carbon steel blade. A hand satin finish lends an heirloom quality.
The knife is accompanied by a hand tooled laced leather sheath.
The fit and finish throughout is exceptional.
