Description: French knifemaker Jean-Pierre Martin makes an exceptional gentleman's folder. A lover of technique and precision, Jean-Pierre started his career as an auto mechanic and later became a self taught blacksmith. This love for working with his hands led him to the world of high end cutlery. Today he is considered one of the great French cutlery makers and his work is rarely seen outside of France. We were extremely pleased to be able to meet with him at the 2022 Blade Show and present some of his work here in the United States!
This blade rotates on washers and has silky-smooth action. The perfectly centered blade can be deployed easily using the ambidextrous jimped front flipper tab.
The blade is RWL-34 stainless steel with a meticulous hand rubbed satin finish. RWL-34 is a premium powder metallurgy cutlery steel manufactured by ERASTEEL in Söderfors, Sweden. Because it is made from rapidly solidified powders, the microstructure of the steel is much more uniform. This gives the steel much higher strength and resistance to cracks and chips. Jimping on the spine provides an excellent thumb purchase.
Handle scales are uni-directional carbon fiber. Barrel spacers and a nested linerlock keep the knife incredibly lightweight at only 2.4 ounces! The contoured scales fill your hand nicely and provide a comfortable grip. A lock on the spine disengages the blade without needing to put your fingers in the blade's path during closing. The standard linerlock can also be used to disengage the blade. Martin's signature hidden pocket clip is mounted on the right side of the knife. When not in use, the pocket clip recedes into the scale to prevent hot spots. When the top of the clip is pressed, the clip bends outward and will clip comfortably into your pocket.
A black leather pouch with Martin's mark is included to carry the knife safely in the pocket.
Excellent work throughout!
