Description: Journeyman Smith Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. Bruce is one of the fine Australian makers who is drawing the attention of the knifemaking world to the wealth of knifemaking talent in his country. Bruce has worked alongside some of the most prominent knifemakers in the world including Mastersmith Bill Burke. Bruce's attention to detail and fine design aesthetic is clearly apparent in this elegant and high performing slipjoint folder.
The clip point blade is forged from Bruce's own explosion pattern damascus, combining 1084 and 15n20 carbon steels. The complex, high contrast pattern is extremely engaging and shows lots of movement in the steel. The blade can be easily opened using the nail nick.
The blade is perfectly centered and has smooth, consistent action with a firm half stop.
Handle scales are stabilized miniritchie (Acacia cyperophylla), secured to stainless steel liners using hand domed pins. The perfectly book matched scales combine heartwood and sapwood with a beautiful chatoyant curl figure. The stainless steel liners are fileworked by hand. Satin finished front and rear bolsters finish the handle.
Exceptional work throughout!
