Description: Journeyman Smith Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. Bruce is one of the fine Australian makers who is drawing the attention of the knifemaking world to the wealth of knifemaking talent in his country. Bruce has worked alongside some of the most prominent knifemakers in the world including Mastersmith Bill Burke. Bruce's attention to detail and fine design aesthetic is clearly apparent in this elegant and high performing slipjoint folder.
The clip point blade is forged from Bruce's own sharkstooth pattern damascus, combining 1084 and 15n20 carbon steels. The complex, high contrast pattern is extremely engaging and shows lots of movement in the steel.
The blade is perfectly centered and has smooth, consistent action with a firm half stop. It can be easily opened using the nail nick.
Handle scales are ancient mammoth ivory secured to stainless steel liners using recessed hand domed pins. The perfectly book matched scales are exceptionally dramatic. The stainless steel liners are fileworked by hand. Satin finished, fluted front and rear bolsters finish the handle. For exceptional strength and durability, the bolsters are integral to the liners.
Exceptional work throughout!
