Description: Daniel Winkler became a fulltime knifemaker in 1988 and received accreditation as an American Bladesmith Society master bladesmith in 1993. He spent more than three decades studying and perfecting the nuances and handmade knives. Winkler Knives is a custom manufacturing operation that represents the evolution of Mastersmith Daniel Winkler’s knifemaking expertise coupled with the needs and field experience of Tier 1 Special Operations Teams from around the world.
This tool was crafted in the Winkler Knives shop in Northwestern North Carolina by skilled Blue Ridge Mountain artisans. It was created to provide unfailing performance and to last a lifetime. The Winkler Knives touch mark represents their unwavering commitment to producing the highest quality knives, axes, and breaching tools available.
The Highland Hunter was born from knowledge created from a true understanding of outdoor survival. It is reminiscent of Mastersmith Daniel Winkler's hand forged knives. There really isn't anything you couldn't accomplish in an outdoor environment using just the WK Highland Hunter.
The Highland Hunter features a 4.9 inch blade made from 80CrV2 carbon steel and features a non-glare black oxide finish. A fileworked thumbrest provides excellent traction. The flat ground blade is perfect for skinning, field prep, and would handle minor chopping tasks well.
Maple handle scales are secured to a distal tapered blade and full tang. The Winkler Knives touchmark is marked on the spine. A brown leather wrapped Boltaron sheath with metal belt clip will keep the knife close by.
