Description: Visiting Mastersmiths Kevin and Heather Harvey during my trips to South Africa is always a highlight of my trip.
Mastersmith Kevin Harvey began this elegant utility knife by forging his own damascus to shape. The Radiating Ladder pattern is extremely engaging and encourages closer examination. By using carbon steels, Harvey ensures a keen, long lasting edge. Because this knife is forged from carbon steels we recommend using camellia oil to oil the blade and wood handle.
The handle is London Plane (Platanus acerifolia). This light toned wood, endemic to Western Australia, has a swirling grain structure that nicely complements the damascus blade.
Nickel silver bolsters are hand engraved by Kevin. Black and white fiber spacers help the stabilized wood adjust to humidity and temperature changes in the kitchen.
To keep the knife protected during transportation, an embossed cowhide leather sheath made by Kevin is included.
Excellent work throughout!
