Description: Visiting Mastersmiths Kevin and Heather Harvey during my trips to South Africa is always a highlight of my trip.
Mastersmith Kevin Harvey began this elegant chef's knife by forging his own damascus san mai. A central core of 52100 carbon steel is surrounded by random pattern damascus. Many knifemakers and knife users feel that 52100 is among the best steels used in modern knifemaking. By forging the damascus from carbon steels, Harvey ensures a keen, long lasting edge. A differential heat treatment adds strength and durability to the high performance blade.
The handle combines two sections of dyed and stabilized maple burl. The pommel and front spacer are ebony. A nickel silver bolster seals the front of the handle. The bolster and inlaid top of the handle are hand engraved in floral scroll by Mastersmith Harvey.
This chef's knife is a perfect choice for chopping, slicing, and dicing -- with just enough height for finger clearance, and is sure to become a favorite in your kitchen. At 6-1/4 inches, it is easy to control.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched, hand tooled leather sleeve, also made by Mastersmith Kevin Harvey.
Exceptional work throughout!
