Description: I was tremendously pleased to meet bladesmith Dave Skinner at the 2019 Guild Show of Southern Africa. Dave brings a refined eye and tremendous skill at the forge to his knives. Over the last few years, his work has continued to develop a level of refinement that is found in very few knifemakers.
This boot dagger is a tremendous example of his work. It was inspired by renowned South African knifemaker Fanie La Grange. Fanie's unique aesthetic is nicely reflected in this small boot dagger.
The blade is hand ground Swedish 14C28N stainless steel. 14C28N is tough, chip, resistant, highly corrosion-resistant, and maintains good edge retention. The blade features a hand rubbed satin finish, adding to its heirloom quality.
Ram's horn handle scales are set on a full tang, ensuring strength and durability. White and black formica liners will help the natural material adjust to humidity and temperature changes. Handle scales meet nicely with satin finished 303 stainless steel bolsters.
This boot dagger is accompanied by a custom wet formed cowhide sheath.
Exquisite work throughout!
