Description: This elegant hunting knife was made by George W. Stone who unfortunately passed away in1991. George began making knives back in 1953 and was one of the founding members of the Knifemakers Guild. His knives are coveted by both collectors and avid outdoorsman making them increasingly hard to come by. This knife was made between 1970 and 1990 and kept in a private collection. The knife was meticulously cared for. It is in brand new condition and by all appearances it could have been made yesterday.
The satin finished blade is hand ground 440C stainless steel. Stone's maker mark is on the right side of the blade and a serial number is stamped into the left side of the blade. The serial number indicates the knife is a Model H. A large ricasso allows you to choke up on the blade for more detail-oriented tasks.
The handle is made from a central column of stag. It has plenty of natural texture, providing a comfortable grip. The sides of the handle are ground flat to provide a comfortable grip during skinning tasks. A black spacer adds a nice contrast to the light toned stag. The handle is finished with a brass guard and end cap.
To keep the knife close at hand, a hand stitched leather sheath is included.
Rare to see a vintage knife in this great of condition. This is a real piece of knifemaking history!
Excellent work throughout!
