Description: This exceptional damascus chef's knife was made by Ohio bladesmith Justin Chenault. Justin started making knives in 2005. His first foray into smithing was in a high school class where he was tasked with forging a hatchet for camping. After graduating high school Justin assembled the basics of his own blacksmith's shop. He quickly joined the Southern Ohio Forge Associate (SOFA) which helped him connect with other smiths. Justin is a journeyman smith with the American Bladesmith Society. He won Season 7, Episode 6 of Forged in Fire, proving his skills on national television.
This high performance chef's knife is a perfect choice as a primary knife in the kitchen. The 8-3/4 inch blade is easily controlled, while the extra-tall blade gives plenty of finger clearance over a cutting board. From chopping to slicing, this will be your go-to knife.
The broad, spearpoint blade was forged to shape from Justin's own mosaic damascus. By combining 1095 and 15N20 carbon steels, Justin ensures a keen, long lasting edge. The bold tiled pattern immediately grabs attention. Chenault's maker's mark is on the left side.
The ambidextrous Japanese-inspired handle is ancient walrus ivory. Colors in the ivory developed across thousands of years as minerals in surrounding soil moved into the ivory. The ivory is surrounded by an integral bolster and mokume gane end cap. Creating integral knives takes an exceptional level of skill but results in superior strength and durability. The end cap and finial are forged from mokume gane, combining copper with nickel.
This exceptional chef's knife is sure to become a family heirloom as well as a kitchen favorite.
