Description: Ryuichi (Dew) Hara is the 44 year old son of renowned knifemaker Koji Hara. Dew grew up in a knife family and naturally got involved with knifemaking by helping his father and learning his techniques. Koji Hara is well known for creating art knives with tremendous precision and detailed inlays. After working in his father's workshop for over 20 years, Dew decided to create his own knives.
The Ray Flipper is a nice midsize utility folder. The blade is perfectly centered and easy to open one-handed using the ambidextrous flipper tab. The action is silky-smooth thanks to the caged bearing pivot system.
The wharncliffe blade is formed from 14C28N stainless steel with an acid copperwash finish. This is done by dissolving copper in ferric chloride and using the ferric to etch the blade. This creates an engaging red hue into the acid washed blade. A hollow grind provides an easy to maintain edge.
The handle is formed from shred carbon fiber overlayed onto textured and acidwashed 420 stainless steel liners. The liners have been jewel polished on the interior. The matching acidwashed 420 stainless steel backbar is slotted so a lanyard can be added and jimped for extra traction when pulling the knife from the pocket. The satin finished pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
