Willem was accepted as a member of the Knifemakers’ Guild of Southern Africa (KGSA) in May of 2007. His attention to detail is clearly evident in his knives. His fit and finish rivals that of the best makers found anywhere.
The 2-1/2 inch blade is made from RWL-34 stainless steel with a hand rubbed satin finish. RWL-34 is a premium powder metallurgy cutlery steel manufactured by ERASTEEL in Söderfors, Sweden. Because it is made from rapidly solidified powders, the microstructure of the steel is much more uniform. This gives the steel much higher strength and resistance to cracks and chips. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. It is well centered with a firm half stop -- easily opened with the right handed thumb nick.
The handle is made from crosscut natural Micarta fit perfectly carbon fiber bolsters. A matching carbon fiber escutcheon is inlaid into the left side of the handle. The inlay is flawless with absolutely no gaps. The interior of the liners have been jewel polished.
Excellent work throughout!
