Description: This folding knife was made by South African knifemaker Herucus Blomerus. A resident of Pretoria, Herucus (pronounced 'eh-roo-koos') has been a proud member of the South African Knifemakers Guild since 2005. Ricus' folders combine incredibly smooth action with a high level of fit and finish.
The blade is easily opened by using the inobtrusive front flipper mechanism. A front flipper is more compact than the traditional flipper mechanism and is less likely to get caught on things in a pocket. This style of flipper is designed to be flicked out using your thumb. The blade is perfectly centered and has silky-smooth action due to the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create smooth action with no blade play.
Marble carbon fiber handle scales meet perfectly to textured zirconium bolsters. The textured, heat colored bolsters provide a steadfast grip that is also very beautiful. Zirconium is a transitional metal that is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia. It is resistant to corrosion and scratching. Titanium liners are anodized blue and surround a marble carbon fiber backbar. The handle is completed with a machined titanium pocket clip mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry. A ceramic ball held in the pocket clip makes it particularly easy to use.
This folder is a classy and refined piece, unique and not ostentatious. Ricus is clearly a maker to keep an eye out for - exceptional fit and finish throughout!
