Description: I was tremendously pleased to meet bladesmith Dave Skinner at the 2019 Guild Show of Southern Africa. Dave brings a refined eye and tremendous skill at the forge to his knives.
This long dagger features a multi-bar damascus blade. Explosion pattern side bars surround a central snake damascus. Skinner combined 1070 and 15n20 carbon steels, ensuring a keen, long lasting edge.
Presentation grade mammoth ivory bank scales are set on a damascus frame. The ancient ivory combines caramel and rare dark blue tones. The ivory developed color across thousands of years as minerals slowly entered the ivory. The ivory is set in place with hand domed pins. Fileworked nickel silver spacers add a nice contrast. A ladder pattern damascus frame complements the mosaic damascus guard.
This Mammoth Dagger is accompanied by a hand stitched custom leather sheath. It is completed with a bronze stud. Additionally, it includes a custom presentation box hand built by Brian Coetzee.
Exquisite work throughout!
