This bolster lock folder is an extremely practical, yet elegant EDC -- designed for daily carry and daily use. Weighing in at just over 2-1/2 oz, it is easy to keep close at hand and not even notice it is in your pocket. This special EDC bolster lock includes some important upgrades such as the addition of IKBS ball bearings, a bolster lock, a san mai damascus blade, and a 3D machined tip-up titanium pocket clip.
The blade is perfectly centered with silky smooth action -- easily opened with one hand using the discreet and ambidextrous front flipper toggle. This style of flipper is designed to be flicked out with your thumb or index finger. It uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The drop point blade is formed from stainless damascus san mai. A central bar of Takefu SG2 powdered metallurgical stainless steel is surrounded by alternating layers of stainless steel and nickel. At Hrc 63-64, this folder has among the best edge holding of any van Deventer knife ever made. The resulting damascus is high contrast and immediately captivating. The linear damascus reveals JD's complex, super-clean grind. The flats are mirror polished. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
The frame is formed from blackened 6Al4V titanium with blue/white FatCarbon inlays on both sides. The ergonomic handle and jimping along the spine provide a solid, secure grip. A carbon fiber backbar keeps the knife light and strong. The blackened 3D machined titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
Exceptional work throughout!
