Description: Mastersmith Bill Burke created this exceptional utility knife with the idea of creating a perfect every day carry knife.
The blade is formed from Yu-Shoku. The blade was hand forged in a technique known as san mai (three layers). Undulating, brightly colored brass, copper and stainless steel surround a V-Toku2 carbon steel core. V-Toku2 is a 'super-steel' created by Takefu, in Japan. Very high in carbon content (approx. 1.1%), this steel holds and takes an amazing edge. The effect created by the mokume gane walls is extremely captivating!. The undulating ladder pattern was created by carefully manipulating the layers during forging. The left ricasso is engraved with Bill's maker's mark. The right ricasso is engraved with M.S. (for Master Smith). Both the blade and full tang are distal tapered for perfect balance.
Handle scales are formed from high Arctic muskox (Ovibos moschatus) horn. Muskox horn is one of the most rare and majestic handle materials used in the knife world. The highly polished horn has a unique figure that immediately grabs the eye. The scales are set in place with three hidden bolt rivets.
The knife is accompanied by a sturdy Kydex belt sheath that is sure to keep this knife at the ready when not on display. A Spyderco G-clip allows for easy belt carry. Adding paracord would allow it to be used as a neck knife. An excellent knife from Mastersmith Bill Burke that is a superior little performer!
