Description: carlMichael Almqvist crafted his first knife at 15 years old. His 30 years of artistry are reflected in this exceptional award-winning half horn utility. This knife is a traditional Sami style known as a half horn. The reindeer antler handle is combined with a "half horn" sheath featuring a leather upper and reindeer antler base. Over the years, carlMichael has won numerous awards for his half horn knives.
The blade was forged by renowned Finnish brothers Simon and Jakob Nylund. These guys are well known throughout Europe as first class bladesmiths and knifemakers. A D2 semi-stainless steel core is surrounded by RWL34 stainless steel. The flats are forge finished with the grinds hand satin finished. The darkened edge features an elegant patina.
The handle incorporates reindeer antler engraved with a traditional Scandinavian basket weave pattern. The engraving has been carved so that it has tremendous three dimensional texture. A reindeer antler bolster and pommel surround the central handle.
The knife snaps securely into a traditional style Swedish sheath of engraved reindeer antler and leather. The sheath has matching engraving on the antler and features basketweave hand tooling on the leather.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
