Description: carlMichael crafted his first knife at 15 years old. His 30 years of artistry are reflected in this exceptional Swedish fixed blade. It is fairly rare for Nordic makers to create knives of this size. This collaborative knife shows carlMichael's work at its best.
This 8 inch blade was forged to shape by Roger Bergh. Roger is a true master at the forge and this long blade is a tremendous example of his work. The blade is formed from two separate bars of feather pattern damascus combined with a central bar of nickel. By forging the blade to shape, Bergh ensured that the pattern perfectly follows the cutting edge and spine. The results are absolutely dramatic!
The handle is formed from a spectacular cross cut section of ancient mammoth ivory. The cross cut ivory shows the natural radiating pattern from the center of the tusk. Stainless and black fiber spacers help the handle adjust to humidity and temperature changes.
To keep the knife close at hand, a black leather sheath made by carlMichael is included. The sheath is designed to hang low off the belt. The top of the sheath has been tooled to match the pattern of the mammoth ivory. The sheath is finished with a damascus decoration on the belt loop.
Excellent work throughout!
