Description: Helgard and Ida Mostert are quite the team. Helgard Mostert is a protégé of Andre Thorburn. He creates exceptional folders with some of the best action and fit and finish found anywhere. Ida Mostert brings tremendous engraving skills.
The hand ground blade is CopperMai forged by Baker Forge in Boone, NC. The dramatic pattern is creating by combining alternating layers of 1084 carbon steel with copper. The center core is high performance 80CrV2 carbon steel. This combination ensures a keen, long lasting edge with an exceptionally dramatic appearance. Mostert’s touchmark is on the left ricasso.
The blade is perfectly centered with silky-smooth, drop-shut action -- easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous front flipper toggle. It uses IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System). This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. This special flipper is made with ceramic ball bearings. Generally, IKBS bearings are made either from tool steel or from stainless steel. Stainless steel can wear away, resulting in uneven action over time. Tool steel bearings can oxidize making the action rough. Ceramic bearings are the best of all worlds. Extremely hard and wear resistant, they are also inert and will not oxidize.
Camo carbon fiber handle scales are set on anodized and hand fileworked titanium liners. They meet with bolsters formed from Baker Forge CopperMai. External Rausch titanium pivots ensure smooth consistent action and can be easily adjusted for tension. The titanium backspacer is deeply engraved by Ida Mostert. The 3D machined titanium pocket clip with ceramic retention ball is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Exceptional work throughout from a husband and wife team that is making a big impact.
