Description: This friction folder is a collaborative piece by Adrian and Stefan van Deventer. Stefan and Adrian are the sons of renowned knifemaker JD van Deventer. For the past few years, they have been studying knifemaking under their father, and their collaborative efforts have been truly spectacular.
Higonokami are the classic folding pocket knives native to Japan. This traditional knife is a friction folder, using the friction of the swivel and the pressure of the user's thumb on a protruding tang to prevent the knife from folding during use. The blade is easily opened using the exposed tang or a pinch grip on the spine. Because these knives do not have a locking blade, they are legal for carry in nearly all jurisdictions.
The blade is formed from N690 stainless steel, created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. It swivels out with smooth consistent action. The blade is perfectly centered.
Handle scales are formed from carbon fiber set on lime green G-10 liners. A carbon fiber back spacer keeps the knife light and strong. At just 1 oz, it will be easy to keep this knife close by.
