Description: South African knifemaker, Jan Wahl, is a maker to watch. He became a full time knife maker in 2009 and joined the South African Knife Makers Guild in 2012. Jan has excellent attention to detail.
The razor is a playful piece. While sharp enough to shave, it is designed as a general purpose utility knife. The straight razor shape provides nice geometry whether opening boxes or doing a myriad of tasks. I've found this knife shape perfect for use as a marking knife. The 3.2 inch blade was hand ground from 440B stainless steel. 440B provides a keen long lasting edge with exceptional corrosion resistance. The spine features a stone chip finish.
Redwood burl (Sequoia sempervirens) handle scales are set on a distal tapered full tang. The mid toned wood is beautiful and has dramatic 'eyes'. The scales are nicely rounded to provide a sure, comfortable grip. This is a knife you won't want to put down.
Excellent fit throughout!
