Description: Oregon bladesmith Joe Edson specializes in straight razors and kitchen knives. His work, whether a razor or chef’s knife is truly razor sharp!
The kamisori is a Japanese style of razor that has been around before the European straight razor. The classic Japanese construction provides a perfect grip and incredible shave. Seated in your hand, it is perfectly weighted. Add this piece to your morning shave and take pride in your grooming ritual!
Joe began by forging welding a bar of aogami 2 carbon steel to wrought iron. Aogami 2, with its small crystalline size, allows for a tremendously sharp, responsive, and long lasting edge. The antique wrought iron provides an elegant damascene appearance.
As is traditional for kamisori, the blade features an asymmetric grind. This allows the razor to be even sharper, with less irritation from the shave. The domed spine and choil feature filework to ensure a secure grip -- even when hands get slippery.
The folding handle draws its influence from European straight razors. It is formed from stabilized snakeskin sycamore (Platanus occidentalis).
We recommend using camellia oil to protect the razor from rust and oxidation.
Exceptional work throughout!
